How we use SMS

Last updated: May 4, 2026

securepayAPI (operated by Lumiria LLC) is a US-based payment processing platform. We use SMS for a single, transactional purpose: sending one-time verification codes during merchant onboarding so we can confirm a phone number belongs to the person creating the account.

We do not send marketing, promotional, or recurring messages over SMS. There is no SMS subscription — each code is generated on demand when a user submits their own number on our verification form.

How users opt in

The opt-in is a web-form action. After signing up, the merchant opens the in-app Verification page, enters their own phone number, and clicks Send code. A short disclosure shown directly under the field reads:

By tapping "Send code" you agree to receive a one-time SMS verification code.

Tapping the button is the affirmative consent. We then send a single SMS containing a 6-digit code that expires in 10 minutes. No further messages are sent unless the user requests a resend from the same screen.

What the verification flow looks like

The verification page is part of the authenticated merchant dashboard at app.securepayapi.com/verify — it is only reachable after a merchant signs up and logs in, so reviewers without an account cannot open it directly. The two screenshots below capture the exact two screens a merchant sees when verifying their phone number.

Verification page with the phone number field, the SMS opt-in disclosure, and the Send code button.
Step 1 — phone entry. The merchant types their own phone number, sees the disclosure ("By tapping 'Send code' you agree to receive a one-time SMS verification code.") directly above the action, and clicks Send code. This click is the opt-in.
Verification page showing the 6-digit code input after the SMS has been sent, with a 60-second resend timer.
Step 2 — code entry. The merchant receives a single SMS with a 6-digit code, types it into the input, and clicks Verify. A 60-second cooldown protects against accidental resends.

Sample message

securepayAPI: Your verification code is 482103. It expires in 10 minutes. Do not share this code.

We never include marketing copy, links, or third-party content in these messages. Standard message and data rates may apply depending on the carrier.

Privacy & security

The phone number is collected and processed under our Privacy Policy. We do not sell or share phone numbers with third parties for marketing purposes; the number is used solely to send the verification code and to contact the merchant about their account. SMS is delivered via OpenPhone (Quo) acting as our service provider under a data processing agreement.
